Regina Wooten is a Wilmington native and has more than 25 years experience as an educator.  Ms. Wooten is a graduate of the MSA Program at UNC-Wilmington and she is also certified in Secondary English Education.  She received her undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has taught grades 9-12 and has served as lead teacher and worked with varied programs in New Hanover County Schools.  In addition she has also served as chairperson of School Improvement Teams, SACS chairperson, mentor, department chairperson, and Senior Project Coordinator, and many other professional roles. Her experience is varied from traditional to alternative to nontraditional. She served as the WECHS Program Coordinator before becoming principal in the fall of 2015. Regardless of where she has worked, she feels that all students should have equal opportunity and access to education.

Dr. Brown is also a Wilmington native. She earned a Bachelors of Elementary Education, Masters of Education, and Masters of School Administration from UNC Wilmington. After her education at UNCW she later attended UNC Greensboro where she earned an Educational Specialist Degree and a Doctorate in Education. Throughout her professional career, which spans 33 years, she has served as an NHCS elementary teacher, an assistant principal and principal in Pender County, and has held positions at UNC Wilmington and the University of Massachusetts Boston. Dr. Brown joined the WECHS team in the fall of 2016 and we are so grateful to have her!
