Ms. Nixon's 5th Graders show off their newest dance in Ms. Williams' dance class
During a week-long residency at Snipes Academy of Art and Design, puppeteer Hobey Ford presented a series of workshops for students, teachers and parents . The residency culminated with two performances of his acclaimed work “Animalia” for the county’s second and third grade students. Hobey Ford is the recipient of puppetry’s highest honor, the UNIMA Citation of Excellence, and is a three-time recipient of the Jim Henson Foundation Grant. Students at Snipes learned about the art of telling folktales, of different cultures through folktales, and about shadow puppets. They also created their own shadow puppets, and wrote their own folktale scripts.
