Patriot Kid Vacation Story

Liberty Spends a Memorable Vacation in Atlanta with Claudia Liberty

Yahoo! It’s finally the day I get to go to Buckhead and Atlanta with Claudia, her brother Charlie, her mom, and her dad. It’ll be a whole new experience for me and Claudia. Its 5 a.m. right now we’re up that early because it’s a seven hour trip to get to Buckhead. Claudia’s mom came upstairs and told us that we only had fifteen minutes to get ready. We quickly put on our clothes. We dashed into the bathroom and brushed our teeth. I looked at the clock; we had five more minutes to bring down the luggage, do our hair, and get in the car. We were going downstairs with both of our hands carrying suitcases.

We walked into the garage, got in the car, and went back to sleep. When we woke up we were in South Carolina. About half of the driving was over. We watched Finding Nemo for the rest of the trip.

We drove our car up to the front of the hotel and a man with a top hat opened the doors. We walked into the lobby there was a beautiful Christmas tree with a crystal chandelier hanging above it. While my parents checked in we had free hot chocolate with marshmallows. You could have all you wanted! We went upstairs to unpack and then we went to the Ritz Café for lunch. The meal was delicious. Even though the weather was foggy and cold we decided to go to Stone Mountain anyway. My dad, my brother and I went in a cable car to the top of the mountain. It was so cool because we walked on top. On the way down, we saw the side of the mountain that had an amazing carving of four Confederate war generals on their horses. We also watched 4-D polar express movie, rode the Christmas train, and watched the magnificent laser show. What a fun night.

Liberty at aquariumThe next day, we woke up at 6 a.m., had a huge buffet breakfast and went to the biggest aquarium in the country (Georgia Aquarium). My favorite part was the fish tunnel. Thousands of fish swim all around you. I especially liked the huge whale sharks that were about 50 feet long. Next, we went to the Coke factory. It was really fun because you got to try Coke products from all over the world. Some of them were really good and some of them were disgusting like the Beverly from Italy. It tasted like sour old medicine!

at MLK graveOn Sunday we went to Auburn Avenue where Martin Luther King Junior lived. There was a superb movie showing inside the Martin Luther King Junior museum. We walked around the rest of the museum and read about his life. We went outside and saw the tombs of Dr. & Mrs. King. They were surrounded by a fountain of water.

The big event I was waiting for finally came…the Nutcracker Tea at the Ritz Carlton! When we entered the room there was people dressed up from the Nutcracker. Our table was right next to the stage where ballerinas danced, carolers sang and Mr. & Ms. Claus made a visit. When Santa Claus came on the stage snow fell from the ceiling. All the kids ran up and played in the snow including me. Next, I decorated a gingerbread girl and then had hot chocolate, a double decker peanut butter & jelly sandwich and yummy chocolate desserts.

On Monday we swam in the indoor pool, went to the fitness room, shopped in two huge malls and went to see Alvin & the Chipmunks. It was a great day. When we got back to our hotel room there was special Christmas bread called “stolen” waiting for us.

We got up Christmas morning, had a huge breakfast and then had to leave. Everyone was sad when the time came. This trip was one of the most fun trips I have ever had.
