NHHS Needs You!

     Yes. PARENTS, our school needs you!!  With over 10,000 hours volunteered each year, NHHS is able to continue its tradition of excellence.  Studies continue to validate the importance of parental involvement in student success.  Please join the caring parents of New Hanover High School and help out in some way.  If you cannot donate time, you can still help by donating other items.
     Please check areas of interest below, complete the bottom of the form, and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher or to the front office.  A representative from our parent volunteer committee(s) will contact you for assistance.

    Student Involvement & Recognition **: We encourage, recognize and reward all students for academic achievement, and school volunteer services.  Also, we have a reception during Senior Project Nights to honor seniors.
___ Send in goodies for various events.
___ Assist with set up, serving, and clean-up of student recognition events and/or receptions for senior project nights.   
___ Serve as a judge for Senior Project Oral Presentations.

Grounds Improvement **:
___ I would like to participate in school clean-up days on the weekends.

Staff Appreciation **: Honor staff by providing luncheons, Teacher Appreciation Week, goodies for special times of the year.
___ Send in food/desserts/beverages for events.
___ Assist with set up, serving and clean-up at events.
___ My business has items/services that can be donated to teachers.

Membership:
___  Serve as chair of the committee.
___ Serve on a committee to promote membership in the NHHS PTSA.  Provide handouts and collect membership dues at
events  early in the school year.

Office Help:
___ During school hours, volunteers commit to the same weekly 2-hour shift, answering phones, helping staff, check-in/check-out, and              
greeting parents/visitors.  This is a yearlong commitment.

Publicity:
___  Serve as chair of the committee.
___ Help get the word out about the great things NHHS accomplishes to the community by reporting to local papers, etc. Be an
“investigative reporter” throughout the year. 

Fundraising: 
___  Serve as chair of the committee.
___ Help with various fundraising ideas and events.

Test Proctors:
    ___    Serve as chair of the committee.
    ___    During school hours, monitor writing tests. exams & end of course tests.
