  • Need mulch for tennis court side of NHHS. If you'd like to help, you can send in a donation or a gift card to Lowes Home Improvement.
  • We are in need of assorted, individually wrapped candy. Check out the clearance sales after holidays. The candy will be used for student and teacher recognition.
  • If you have not joined PTSA yet, please consider doing so. Our membership is currently low. Without your involvement, we cannot continue to support NHHS at the level we have in previous years.

    New Hanover High School Standardized Dress Code for Students

    A standardized dress code will be followed by all New Hanover High School students beginning with the 2009-2010 school year.  Reasonable accommodations on the basis of a student’s religious beliefs or medical conditions can be made.  The principal can exempt a student from complying with part or all of this policy when compliance would impose a substantial burden due to a medical condition or the exercise of a sincerely held religious belief.  The principal may request from the parent or guardian a written statement explaining the medical condition or the religious belief and how it is affected by the standardized dress code. 

    The principal may also make reasonable accommodations for students to comply with the standardized dress code based on financial hardship or for new students enrolling in the school from outside the New Hanover County Schools.  Reasonable modifications and/or exceptions may be made inorder tomeet curriculum or safety requirements for certain high school courses.

    Pants, Skirts, Shorts, Jumpers, Dresses, Skorts, and Capris.

    • Colors allowed: solid tan khaki, solid navy blue, solid black.
    • Must be free of graphics and screen-printing
    • Embroidery in the same color family as the garment is permissible.
    • Manufacturer’s labels or emblems no larger than 3 inches by 3 inches are permitted.
    • Overalls and coveralls are prohibited.
    • Skirts, shorts, jumpers, dresses, and skorts shall be knee length or longer.
    • Approved collared shirt or top is required when wearing a jumper.
    • Pants, skirts, shorts, and skorts must be worn at the waist.
    • Form fitting spandex material or nylon (including leggings), sweat pants, and pajama pants are prohibited.  Leggings may be worn under approved knee length attire.
    • Oversized, undersized, and skintight garments will not be tolerated.
    • Clothing with holes, rips, or tears is not permitted.

    Shoes

    • Some type of shoes must be worn at all times.
    • No bedrooms shoes are permitted.

    SHIRTS

    • Shirts must be collared and colors permitted are white, school colors, or other colors designated by each school.  T-shirts may not be worn as the primary shirt unless school or school-spirit related.
    • Shirts must be free of graphics or screen-printing.
    • Embroidery, unless the school emblem or mascot, must be in the same color family as the garment.
    • Manufacturer’s labels or emblems no larger than 3 inches by 3 inches are permitted.
    • Shirts may be long or short sleeve, sleeveless shirts are not permitted.
    • Shirts must be tucked in or worn no lower than the hip and must cover the waist band of the pants, skirt, shorts, skort, or capris, whether standing or sitting.
    • Clothing with holes, rips, or tears is not permitted.

    Other Approved Tops

    • Must be free of graphics and screen-printing.
    • Embroidery in the same color family as the garment is permissible.
    • Manufacturer’s labels or emblems no larger than 3 inches by 3 inches are permitted.
    • Principal approved spirit wear such as school letter jackets, school sweatshirts, school t-shirts, and other school clothing is approved.
    • Mock turtlenecks/turtlenecks are allowed.
    • Solid color t-shirts without graphics or screen-printing may be worn under the collared shirt.

    Coats

    • Must be free of graphics and screen-printing.
    • Embroidery in the same color family as the garment is permissible.
    • Manufacturer’s labels or emblems no larger than 3 inches by 3 inches are permitted.

    Effective June 29, 2009, the NCAA Eligibility Center will be unveiling a new student-athlete Web site and registration process for college-bound student-athletes planning to enroll in fall 2010 and later. The new Web address is www.NCAAstudent.org. The Eligibility Center feels that this new environment will aid you in easily accessing the vital information needed to assist your student-athletes and parents with the registration and academic and amateurism certification process. The existing Web site will continue to operate for college-bound student-athletes needing to register and enroll fall 2009. It will also continue to provide an academic and amateur certification status for fall 2009 and winter/spring 2010 enrollees. As members of the high school community, you will be able to access your information from the “For High Schools” link. The process of submitting your school's core courses online will remain the same. Should you have any questions concerning the registration of your student-athletes or locating Eligibility Center information, please refer to the high school resource page, which can be accessed by clicking on "For High Schools" and then logging in as a high school administrator.     ID BADGES – All students must have an ID with a white
    background and the black print. IDs can be made in room 113
    before school, during lunch and after school .

     


    ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: - AUP Forms - AUP stands
    for Acceptable Use Policy and is a required form regarding computer use at
    school that each student must have on file in the library. Students who have not
    returned this form will not have access to their computer login until the
    form is returned.
    Have you turned in your AUP (Internet Permission Form) that was given to you
    on the first day of school? You MUST turn it in, signed by your parent, or you
    will not have computer privileges here at school. Extra forms are available
    in the library for those who still need to get this completed.


     

    Parking in the school parking lots is by New Hanover High School permit only.
    You must have a school parking permit or risk being
    ticketed. Students should present their license, registration, and $20 when
    purchasing a parking decal from Mrs. Bridgers in room 209. Park only in the marked
    spaces. Parent office volunteers may obtain a parking permit for parking in the
    student lot from Ms. Clewis in the main office.
    Parking on Market Street between 14th and 15th Street in front of the church
    is restricted. If you do not obey the signs you will be ticketed by Wilmington
    Police Department.

    Students should bring the following items when purchasing a parking permit:

    1. Completed Registration Form (available in the school’s main office or online Click here )
    2. Valid NC Driver’s License
    3. Valid NC Vehicle Registration
    4. $20 Registration Fee (cash or check payable to NHHS).
