Mr. Kelly has served NHCS as a chemistry teacher, first at Laney High School, for 15 years, then here at IBECHS, beginning in 2006. During this time, Mr. Kelly was involved in a variety of leadership roles including AP Chemistry Teacher, Site-Base Management Chairman, Junior Class Advisor, Lead Chemistry Teacher and Science Department Chairman. Mr. Kelly is known for his student-centered, hands-on approach to teaching science. He employs a variety of inquiry-based instructional techniques and uses laboratory experimentation to drive his instruction.

A native of Kinston, NC, Mr. Kelly has resided in Wilmington with his wife, Laurie and his son, Jared for fifteen years. Mr. Kelly and his family are deeply involved in their church, volunteer in the community with local food pantries, volunteer with Interfaith Hospitality Network, and both Mr. Kelly and his wife are gospel recording artists with the Pillar Music Group.
