Teacher Recommendation Form

Isaac Bear Early College High School opened in the fall of 2006 as a partnership between the New Schools Projects, New Hanover County Schools, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  As an early college high school, students will participate in an accelerated high school education program, which offers honors courses to prepare students for the rigors of college.

This program is a four-year program, beginning with students as they enter their 9th grade year.  In the first two years of the program, students complete all their required high school courses (i.e. math, sciences, english, and history).  In the final two years of the program, students who have demonstrated a readiness to succeed in college courses will take UNCW courses with the support of the staff at Isaac Bear Early College High School.

UNCW courses taken by IBEC students will count as college credit AND electives toward the total number of credits required for high school graduation.

Successful students will graduate with a high school diploma and a college transcript including up to two years of college credit.

Tour our school! Please call Erik Bron at 350-1387 x200 to schedule an appointment.
