Among the eighteen students graduating with Hoggard’s first senior AVID class are three young women who have been awarded entry into the National Honors Society.  China, Ashleigh and Larissa are original members of the Hoggard AVID program.  Pursuing a rigorous curriculum of honors, AP and Huskins courses, these students have acquired strong leadership and academic study skills based on organization, collaboration, Cornell note-taking and inquiry based learning.  China, Ashleigh and Larissa have set an example for all the younger AVID students to follow.  With their acceptance into college, they will have reached the dream that brought them into the AVID program.  Mr. John Rinka, Hoggard’s original coordinator and current AVID teacher, states, “Hoggard is very fortunate to have these three students as well as many others in the senior class who have shown that success in the classroom can be achieved through hard work, dedication, support and meaningful methodology.”
