Mae Rachel Freeman
July 27, 1941 - September 26, 1996

Born July 27, 1941 in Elizabethtown, NC, Rachel attended public schools in Bladen and New Hanover County. In the mid 1990's Mrs. Freeman attended UNCW where she excelled in creative writing. Mrs. Freeman was a devoted wife to William "Bill" Freeman and a loving mother to five children.

Education of all children was a subject close to Mrs. Freeman's heart. Her involvement in Wilmington's education system included membership on the New Hanover County Board of Education from 1985 - 1994.

We are proud to have our school named in her honor.
