PTA Reflections Contest
With great excitement, all students are invited to explore the arts by participating in this year's PTA Reflections Contest. The theme is "Believe, Dream, Inspire". Reflect on the theme! Create an original work! Be recognized! Original student works may be submitted in the following categories: *Dance Choreography *Film Production *Literature *Music Composition *Photography *Visual Arts *Special Artist Division (for students with physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges) Important, REQUIRED guidelines and forms are available in the main office and online at www.ncpta.org. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, November 12. First, second, and third place winners will be recognized in each category here at Ashley. 24 pieces overall will then move on to compete at the county level. The SDA Class and EC Buddies are hosting a Project Unify Cornhole Tournament soon! Attached is the invitation. We have invited Murray Middle and Hoggard HS SDA students and EC Buddies.
February is Black History Month
In celebration of Black History Month, we will sponsor a talent show featuring AHS Students. This event will take place in the MEAC on February 26 @ 2:20 p.m. This year, students have an opportunity to participate in a "Multicultural Celebration Choir" to perform in this event. Career & Technical Education News!
National Technical Honor Society Inductions will be held November 21st at Roland Grise Auditorium 6 p.m. Students (Juniors and Seniors) need a 3.2 GPA overall and at least two CTE courses to be eligible with a 3.5 in those courses. Students can self nominate if they have not received an invitation from a CTE teacher. Mrs.Pridgen, and Mrs. Oaks are our sponsors. www.NTHS.org
The College and Career Promise program has added many new courses and technical programs for juniors and seniors starting in January. Beginning in the 2013-14 school year, students will have the option to take all classes off-site via NCVPS (North Carolina Virtual Public School). Applications and details are available through the New Hanover County Schools website. Deadline for students to apply is one month prior to the first day of classes for each semester. Both the student and parent must attend an interview as well as a training program at Ashley High School. Students who are interested in applying for all off-site instruction need to email Mr. Glen Locklear, Asst. Principal, at email@example.com.
