- What
Time Does School Start?
School begins promptly at 8:00 am, but children are encouraged
to report in time to get settled in by 8:00. Some buses
arrive as early as 7:30.
If your child is tardy, you must come in to the office and sign
him or her in.
- How
Do I Call the School?
The
school telephone number is 350-2031 or 350-2032. The phones are
usually answered by Georgann Smallwood or Brenda Kincaide.
- How
Do I Speak With MY Child's Teacher During the Day?
If
you have an emergency, the office staff will help you get in
touch with your child's teacher. if it is not an emergency,
you may leave a message with the office staff to have your call
returned by the teacher at her convenience.
- What
If My Child Has Medications That He /She Needs to Take During
School?
If
your child should need medicine (including over-the-counter)
during the day, the principal must have the doctor's permission
in writing. All medications will be kept in the office.
This is applicable for both short and long term periods.
- What's
For Lunch?
Children
can either bring lunch from home or buy a lunch from the school
cafeteria. If your child brings a lunch from home, he/she
may buy a drink from the cafeteria. The school cafeteria
offers milk, chocolate milk, and fruit punch. Children may also
buy lunch from the cafeteria . After the first week of school,
the cafeteria operates an account system for children.
Each student has an account that can be accessed by a numbered
card. You may put money into the account weekly, monthly,
or annually. The cafeteria manager,
Renee Fritz, is available
for payments in the cafeteria on Monday and Tuesday. You
may pay by cash or check. You may send the money with your child
if you are unable to come to the school.
- What
About Snacks?
Most
classrooms have a break time scheduled daily for 15 minutes.
During this time, students may have a snack. Nutritious
snacks rather than sweet snacks are encouraged. Check with
your child's teacher to be sure you know what particular preference
is about snacks

- What
About Drop-off in the Morning?
Bus
Riders:
All bus riders will be dropped off from the Canterbury Drive
entrance.
Car Pool/ parents:
Car pool and parents may use either the Cantebury Drive entrance
or the Independence Drive entrance. Please pull up and
let the staff assist your child out of the car. Do not
stop in any of the driveways to walk your child in to the school.
Please use one of the parking lots if you will be getting out
of the car.
walkers and bicycle riders:
Bike riders must follow all directions from the crossing
guard . A staff member will be available to assist when
crossing the driveways on the school grounds. Please walk bicycles
onto the grounds and watch carefully for cars coming and going.
A path in the woods near the mobile classrooms is the safest
way to get to the bike racks. Please do not cut across the parking
lot. Bike riders must wear helmets.
- Afternoon
Pick-up
Please
let your child's classroom teacher know your plans for your child's
pick-up. The children are grouped in the classroom according
to their mode of transportation.
- Bus
Riders
are dismissed from the classroom first to meet their bus.
Staff members will assist your child to the bus.
- Van
riders-Children
being picked up by an after school program gather with staff
members to await the arrival of their buses.
- Carpools
and parent pick up children gather on the porch on the Cantebury
Drive side of the building. Parents are encouraged to form two
lines coming up the center drive to pick up children. Please
do not get out of your car to assist in the process. Adequate
staff is provided for the safe delivery of your child to your
car. You may pick up your child from either side of the
driveway.
- Walkers
and bike riders are
escorted by staff to the sidewalk as a group. Children
crossing Independence Blvd. are escorted across driveways to
the crossing guard.

be on the lookout for our children! We want to keep all of our
children as safe as possible
